Here comes Santa Claus, compliments of CDW Healthcare and Cisco. This holiday season, the companies teamed up to bring Santa Connection back to Children’s Hospital Central California on Dec. 17, delivering virtual Santa and fun holiday surprises.
Cisco’s Santa Connection brings holiday cheer to children spending time at hospitals nationwide during the holiday season, surprising them with a virtual visit from Santa and giving them an opportunity to tell him their holiday wishes. Through Cisco’s TelePresence and Jabber technologies, Santa virtually visits the children all the way from the North Pole using a video feed on a tablet or mobile cart. Instead of reindeer, Santa’s elves escort him throughout the hospital, giving each child a special gift after their visit. Last year alone, Santa visited with more than 2,700 children and gave more than 5,800 gifts to children and their families.
Children’s Hospital Central California partnered with CDW Healthcare for a second year, leveraging CDW Healthcare’s expertise in Cisco’s converged video collaboration technologies to bring holiday cheer to the children. CDW Healthcare donated Cisco TelePresence EX60 and MX300 systems as well as an Ergotron TeleHealth-powered cart to enable Santa to visit with the children, highlighting an especially merry application of the technology. For children in the intensive care unit who weren’t able to join Santa and the other children in the hospital playroom, the elves provided a mobile cart or iPad enabled with Jabber software for bedside visits from Santa. CDW Healthcare also helped organize and provide day-of support for the occasion as the onsite partner of Children’s Hospital of Central California.
“Santa Connection is a thoughtful way of using these TeleHealth solutions to share a favorite childhood tradition and spread holiday cheer. CDW Healthcare is proud to work with Cisco to bring another year of virtual Santa to the children at Children’s Hospital Central California,” said Bob Rossi, vice president, CDW Healthcare. “TeleHealth solutions give healthcare providers a means of increasing patient engagement through offering easy and accessible care, whether face-to-face or from a remote location.”
