For one western U.S. medical center, time was running out. Time to implement a new enterprise-wide EMR. Time to qualify for meaningful use incentives and avoid penalties. Time to overhaul the rest of the facility’s infrastructure to meet patient and clinician needs.

The center partnered with CDW Healthcare to deploy all IT components quickly, accurately and professionally, knowing its go-live date was a matter of months, not years. Along with its CDW Healthcare project and program managers, the medical center engaged dozens of technical specialists in virtualization, networking, security, collaboration and storage to achieve its implementation goals.

The resulting infrastructure and EMR upgrade eventually touched every aspect of the facility’s data center. It included Cisco wired and wireless networks, UCS server platform and network security, EMC storage and backup, VMware for server and desktop virtualization, and mobile medical carts equipped with barcode scanners.

Working with CDW Healthcare, the medical center was able to seamlessly roll out myriad IT components in record time to meet meaningful use incentive deadlines. With this scalable, robust infrastructure in place, the medical center now has the foundation it needs to continually meet its patient care goals.
